The Finn Hudson tribute episode of 'Glee' entitled 'The Quarterback' did not dwell much on the football athlete's death but on the aftermath of his passing away. The heartfelt episode focused on the bereaved friends and family and how they coped with the abrupt departure of Hudson.

The episode begins with someone stealing Hudson's infamous letterman jacket. Recognizing everyone's grieving, Will Schuster allows the club's members to pay tribute by singing their chosen songs. Tina Cohen-Chang hides her pain behind trivia and expresses disappointment for she did not want to wear black. Sue Sylvester opts to plant a tree for Hudson. On the other hand, Hudson's parents as well as his stepbrother Kurt Hummel recalled heartbreaking memories by going through his possessions.

The most awaited scene is Rachel Berry's rendition of 'To Make You Feel My Love'. Berry, played by Lea Michele, personally selected the song because it had meaning for her and her real-life boyfriend, Cory Monteith.

The Cory Monteith tribute has been inspired by real emotions of the grieving cast. Episode director Brad Falchuk reportedly kept his cast in a state of mourning for the two weeks. After the emotionally draining episode, the cast was given a week off to rest.

The episode portrays that death is inevitable and moving on is not easy. Nonetheless, the cast proves that despite the sadness that comes with someone's permanent absence, that person's wonderful memories will stay.

The episode ends by showing a black and white tribute card for McKinley High's beloved quarterback. Public service announcements for drug addiction featuring Kevin McHale, Matt Morrison, and Jane Lynch are similarly included in the episode. Monteith died last July because of a toxic combination of alcohol and heroin.

The entire proceeds of the songs from 'The Quarterback' will go directly to Monteith's favorite charity, Project Limelight.
