Miley Cyrus went skydiving...and survived, thankfully.

Cyrus told the reporter for her new Rolling Stone cover story, "I've always wanted to [go sky-diving]."

While it sounds like drunken wishful thinking, that's not how it happens if you're a celeb--because the next day, the two did it.

Cyrus and contributing editor Josh Eells drove out to the desert the next morning. At Skydive Perris, near LA, Miley prepared to go up into a plane--and plummet back to earth.

If I die," Cryus said to instructor Scott Smith, "you guys are so fucked."

The video--watch below--captures Cyrus and Smith free-falling from 12,500 feet. The six-minute drop was documented by videographer George Katsoulis.

"I'm finally a bird," Miley says in mid-air, "like I always wanted to be."

Once Miley made it back on the ground, she called her mom. "One thing about sky diving," she says, "you really know who you love, based on who you call."
