‘Avengers 2 Age Of Ultron’ - Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Paul Rudd Frontrunners For Ant-Man Role! Will Henry Pym Replace Tony Stark?

The writer and director of "The Avengers" Joss Whedon, has long hinted about the sequel, "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" to possibly feature an 'end of a franchise.' Is that franchise Iron Man?

How will the entry of Henry Pym(Ant-Man) and the Avengers leader and ultimate techie in the comic books (he was actually the creator of Ultron) affect Tony Stark's role?

With "Iron Man 3" ending with Tony Stark's imminent retirement from being a super hero, the Iron Man movies seemingly ended.  We can also add the fact that negotiations between Robert Downey, Jr and Marvel regarding more Iron Man movies have ended. However, Downey is still signed on for two Avengers movies (including "Age of Ultron"). Is that a guarantee that he's not the one on the chopping block?

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts, has already mentioned that she will not appear in the Avengers sequel and that there are no plans for any more Iron Man movies. That might be another clue.

Both "Iron Man 3" and "The Avengers" have crossed the $1 billion worldwide gross mark. Downey is rumored to have bankrolled $50million for The Avengers.

Meanwhile, Variety reports that rising actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd are the choices for Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man."

From Variety: "The two actors who have emerged as front-runners to land the title role in the superhero feature are Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd. Insiders warn there's still a remote possibility another actor could emerge but as of now, Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the main contenders for the film.

Marvel recently moved up the release date of the comic-book feature to July 31, 2015 and Wright, following his vacation, tweeted a pre-production photo of the Ant-Man character, which has since reignited the anticipation that an actor would be attached shortly. The two choices are certainly interesting.

Wright, director of "Shaun of the Dead" and most recently "The World's End," appears to want more of an every man actor for the role with a wise-cracking personality rather than a beefed up action hero like Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans.

Sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there's also a possibility of another actor entering the mix.Wright co-wrote the script with "Attack the Block" director Joe Cornish."
