Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch: Newly Unveiled Note 3 Smartphone Companion Will Soon Be Supported By Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch update: The South Korean tech giant’s first foray into the world of wearable technology is now available in most markets worldwide and will initially serve as a tech companion to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

According to Samsung, the smartwatch will also be supported very soon by other product lines, including the Samsung Galaxy S4 and it could happen as soon as this month.

The smartwatch that has a built-in camera, 1.63-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a total 70 apps is now available in 58 countries as the South Korean tech giant looks to make in roads in other markets.

According to the Guardian, Samsung bested Apple, Microsoft and Google in becoming the first to launch a smartwatch, which will create a new market that is predicted to rapidly grow in the coming years.

“Smartwatches will be the most important new product category in consumer electronics since the iPad defined the market for tablets,” Chris Jones, vice president of technology analyst firm Canalys told the Guardian.

“Software platforms tied to smartwatches will also be a tremendous opportunity for developers to write apps in categories such as health and wellness or sports and fitness.”

This is key reason why the Samsung Galaxy S4 will begin supporting the Galaxy Gear. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 will also be supporting the Samsung Galaxy Gear by end of December, reports GSM Arena.

The Verge reported last month that the Samsung Galaxy Gear will be made available in the U.S. this month (October) for $299.
