Tom Hanks is one of the best active actors we have today. One of a rare breed of two-time Oscar best actor winners, he even won them consecutively, which narrows it down to him and Spencer Tracy.

Some films were not so bad, but then again Tom Hanks was an A-lister of the highest level (isn't that the highest level) and would have a prerogative on which projects to take. There were also high level directors involved, and most of the time, the blame is not on Tom.

These are some of Tom Hanks' worst films(compiled and captioned by AskMen.com in no particular order). Most of them were after his two-time Oscar win and eventual nominations in "Saving Private Ryan" and "Castaway." At this point, everyone thought that if Tom Hanks was in it, it must be good. After a string of mediocre films, moviegoers got the message.

The Bonfire of The Vanities (1990) - "Brian De Palma's adaptation of a great piece of '80s satire from the master of that genre, Tom Wolfe, was a huge disappointment and a widespread critical failure." He starred with Bruce Willis and Melanie Griffith.

The Ladykillers (2004) - "The Coen brothers have a record as uneven as it is in many cases impressive, and this is one of their absolute misses. This role makes use of all of Hanks' more annoying qualities as an actor and gives him no opportunities to do anything interesting with the role."

The Terminal (2005) - "Yet another example of Hanks teaming up with a fellow A-lister (Spielberg, this time) and coming up with a dud. The premise is pretty risky -- the entire movie takes place inside an airport -- but it got plenty of buzz upon release." The buzz completely stopped once they've seen the film, which was intended to show a triumph of the human spirit.

Larry Crowne (2011) - "This movie would probably never have been made without Hanks attached, and it's an example of a man being a victim of his own success. Even he and Julia Roberts' powers combined couldn't keep this thin premise afloat."
