Angela Ahrendts Joins Apple: Becomes First Female Hotshot After Leaving Burberry CEO Job

The CEO of Burberry and female executive superstar Angela Ahrendts joins Apple. She is the only woman fortunate and talented enough to be part of the highest echelon of Apple's management.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, will be her boss.

If anyone looks at the "Apple Leadership" page on the official Apple website, there are no other women. She shares one of the spots of the World's Most Powerful Businesswomen along with financial and tech-world celebrity Marissa Ann Mayer. Mayer is the female CEO of Yahoo! and used to be a top executive in Google.

Being compared to a powerful woman like Mayer is an incredible achievement.  Fortune Magazine ranked Mayer last year as one of the top 15 most most powerful businesswomen in America.

Mayer made the financial news recently again due to her maternity leave. It seems the career decisions of women in the A-list corporations of the world is becoming tabloid fodder.

Along with Mayer, Ahrendts is now on her way to becoming one of the most powerful women in the business world as well. She can now also enjoy her role as a Silicon Valley celebrity.

The 53-year-old Ahrendts hails from Indiana. Her role in Apple was created just for her to fill, the role of senior VP in charge of Internet and retail sales.

Before her Apple stint and also being Burberry CEO, Ahrendts was a VP at iconic fashion brand Liz Claiborne. Before that, she was the president of Donna Karan International.

Apple has worked with Burberry in the past. iPhone 5s phones were promoted at a Burberry fashion show last month in September.

Being the only woman in the top management team of a company as massive and popular as Apple, Ahrendts can expect a lot of attention and expectations thrown her way. She will officially leave Burberry to join Apple in Spring of 2014.
