An Academy Award is the crowning glory for any Hollywood inhabitant. Most people would run through fire just to get one. Michael Fassbender is not one of them.

Michael Fassbender is one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood. Two years ago, his name was prominent in the Academy Awards Best Actor race. Yet, after the build-up, he wasn't even nominated for his role as a sex addict in Steve McQueen's "Shame."

Reuniting with Steve McQueen, Fassbender appears in "12 Years A Slave." His portrayal as the "Slave Breaker" has generated Oscar buzz again. When asked on his award chances (ina GQ interview): "It's a vanity thing. It does become important to you. And it shouldn't. "It's just a grind. And I'm not a politician. I'm an actor."

Despite the last statement, X-Men's 'Magneto' actor actually has strong political views, specifically with the economy. "You hear, 'Oh, we're in this much debt.' It's like, where is that money?! All these numbers: Where do they come from? One hundred billion whatever, these numbers. I'd like to see a room with that amount of money. There is no room that could take that amount of money. That money doesn't exist."

He elaborates: "No, but what I'm saying is like, countries going, 'We're in this much debt, and we've got to get it together to pay off this debt.' It's like, 'You're never going to pay that debt off. It's impossible.' I worry about currency and money. Inflation, bang, and next thing, a million's not worth anything. Like in Germany before and after the war, when it really crashed. It was like 2,000 marks for a loaf of bread or something, you know what I mean? That's why you've got to get it in bricks and mortar."

On suggestions regarding where he keeps his money(which sparked the whole money discussion):

-Perhaps it's time to upgrade to a new apartment. (Fassbender still lives in his bachelor pad)

"Or some gold."

You should buy a house made out of gold.
