‘Ant Man’ Casting Rumors – Joseph Gordon-Levitt Admits Discussions; Why Not Both Since There Are Multiple ‘Ant-Men’?

The casting rumors continue. Once the rumors are posted, the rest of us eagerly await the response. First blood is drawn by 'Don Jon.'

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is no stranger to superhero movies appearing in last year's "The Dark Knight Rises. He has issued a statement which is not exactly a denial.  He spoke with the Huffington Post's French division:

"There is always a lot of rumors around these projects and so far it is still only discussions. I am always very transparent when it comes to my role and my career. I'm usually the first to speak and communicate with my fans if something happens. If you hear nothing from me, they are just rumors. "

There have been no statements from Paul Rudd, the other actor that was named in the Variety report. Is that the end of the current discussion?

Apparently, the answer is 'no.' The title of Ant Man in the comics does not belong to one person alone. It is rightfully credited to Henry "Hank" Pym since he is the one who invented the suit that causes it's wearer to shrink.

For a brief time, a SHIELD agent named Eric O' Grady stole the suit and assumed the role of Ant Man. However, he only used for minor mischief at most. It is highly unlikely that this will be the one portrayed in the movie.

The other Ant Man that was named in the report is Scott Lang, who, as described by MTV: "walks the line between total jerk, and earnest hero. He's a character either of these actors might fit well."

The waiting and speculating continues, but pre-production of the movie has already commenced. The release date was actually moved earlier to July 31, 2015.
