Eminem Stabbed In New York: Were The Rumors A Publicity Stunt For Rap God Single And The Marshall Mathers LP 2?

"Eminem stabbed in New York" went viral last August. It turned out to be one of the most viral celebrity death hoax in recent history. The rumor is trending again this week, same time as the release of Eminem's Rap God, his second single from the upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

The image of some unknown man with stabbed wounds on his back circulated social media sites. The hoax went viral on Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms.

Fans of the rapper on Twitter were confused if Eminem was stabbed or if they had been sharing some type of computer virus disguised by the viral hoax.

Not only did the rumor turn out to be untrue, the world-famous rapper wasn't even in the United States during the time the hoax reported the "Eminem stabbed" rumor.

During the time of the viral and morbid rumor, the 13-time Grammy winner was performing at a concert in Slane, Ireland. Dozens of his fans were arrested at the concert. Over 20 of them were charged with disrupting public order and over 30 were charged with minor drug offenses.

The hoax came out during the same time Eminem released his first song from his much anticipated The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album. The album is set to be released in the first week of November this year.

The released singled is called "Survival", a word that can imply what the rapper has been through in his troubled personal life - from his prescription pills addiction to his publicized relationship problems with his ex-wife. It also can be easily linked to surviving a morbid fake death.

An Eminem representative told entertainment reporters, "(The reports are) not true. He remains unstabbed."

This week Slim Shady released a second single from his coming album. It's called Rap God and the track went viral on social media as well. Eminem death rumors are once again circulating online.

Is the "Eminem Stabbed" rumor someone's idea of a bad joke or could it be a publicity stunt given the similar timing of his last two singles' release dates and the hoax going viral?
