Samsung's Curved Phone Is Just A Prototype, May Only See A 'Limited' Run, Source Says

Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy Round, the world's first smartphone with a curved screen. However, those who are aiming to get one might be left disappointed.

According to reputable leakster SamMobile, a source familiar with the project said that the Galaxy Round is just a 'prototype test device', and that it will only see a 'limited' run.

As a result, a consumer's chances of getting the device is extremely low, and next to impossible if you are not in South Korea. The limited units also explain why the curved phone has a pricetag of over $1000.

This is not novelty news for the Korean manufacturer. In the past, Samsung has also launched certain devices on a limited supply, one of which was the Galaxy S2 HD LTE.

While it sucks terribly that most of the market won't even see the actual Galaxy Round in the flesh, this could mean that Samsung is taking the curved/flexible phone competition seriously.
