Stoke City will face off against rival West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, placing two of the English Premier League's closely followed teams against each other.

Stoke City, coming out of a 1-0 loss to Fulham, is expected to be the favorite in the match.

Stoke City Manager Mark Hughes said player Ryan Shawcross , who is expected to start in the match, is turning into a genuine ball player.

"The view of Ryan is shaped by how he was asked to play in the past but he certainly has ability and I think he is showing that.

"Ryan has shown an improvement in getting on the ball in the time we have been working with him.

West Bromwich Albion, coming out of a 1-1 tie with Arsenal, is slated as the underdog in the match but is rumored to give Chelsea good competition.

West Bromwich Manager Malky Mackay mentioned last month that he has no fear over competing against more competitive teams in the English Premiere League.

"A number of players came in and showed they were ready to play and that makes my job harder in one way. But it also makes it easier because they put themselves forward as candidates for the team."
