The Walking Dead Season 4 premiere broke records in television garnering 16.1 million viewers. This episode’s rating retained this zombie show to be the number one show in all of television. Viewers of the series waited several months for another heart-pounding season.

“Sincere thanks to the fans, who have welcomed The Walking Dead back for its fourth season with the highest-rated episode in the show’s history,” AMC President Charlie Collier said. “We could not be more proud of this show and everyone on both sides of the camera who work so hard to give life to this story of character, leadership and survival.”

Robert Kirkman, executive producer of the show, talks about the new season and promised viewers that there will be more surprises in the next episodes that will surely surprise everyone.

"People have seen the promos and they kind of know what's coming, and they can see some cool and exciting stuff happening at the prison, but there is so much story that, really, has not been given away. I think the audience truly is going to be shocked, because trust me, they have no idea what is coming." Robert Kirkman said.

The executive producer also said that the viewers of the show will learn more about the characters in this season especially Rick Grimes, the main character of the series.

“It’s all about Rick coming from this place where he kind of went off the deep end in season 3. Rick feels like he failed at everything he was trying to do and so this is him trying a different path and seeing if he can make that work.” Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly.

 “The new season is about the continuing progression of these characters and their lives, so while we’re still in the prison, it is a very different prison than what we’ve known thus far, and they have kind of built a little pocket of civilization within those fences.” Robert Kirkman added.
