The second episode of 'The Originals' Season 1 entitled 'House of the Rising Son' tells the life story of new character Marcel Gerard.

The episode starts with Rebekah Mikaelson searching for her brother Elijah who has not been answering her phone calls. Unlike her older brother Klaus, Rebekah is still unaware that something terrible happened to her precious brother.

The "House of the Rising Son" episode features a lot of story flashbacks and one of them is the past story between Klaus and Marcel. "Klaus loved him like a son," Rebekah tells Sophie during their talk. Rebekah persuades Sophie not to continue her plan with Klaus since it will not work knowing the history of Klaus and Marcel.

Apart from Klaus, Rebekah similarly had a history with Marcel during the time when he was still under the care of the Mikaelsons. Unfortunately, the budding affection was stopped by Klaus by stabbing Rebekah with a dagger. Klaus then asked Marcel to choose between removing the dagger from Rebekah or obeying Klaus in exchange of being turned to one of the things which he desired most.

Klaus eventually tells Rebekah about his plan to end Marcel's reign and his first step is to befriend and gain Marcel's trust. What did Klaus do to earn Marcel's coveted trust? He gave Elijah to him.

Another awaited story in 'The Originals' is the treatment of Klaus to Hayley, the woman who carries his child. When Klaus found out that Hayley attempted to poison their baby, he was so angered that he nearly killed her only to be stopped by Rebekah.

Rebekah also meets Marcel's secret weapon - the powerful Davina Claire. Davina is the young girl who watches over the coffin of the daggered Elijah. Fearing that Davina will hurt Elijah, Rebekah asks Klaus to help her in saving their brother. The episode later shows Marcel asking Davina to find out how to successfully kill an Original.

'The Originals' is a spinoff series of 'The Vampire Diaries' following the lives of the Mikaelson siblings. It airs every Tuesday night on The CW network at 8 p.m.
