'Vampire Diaries' Season 5: Ian Somerhalder And Paul Wesley Talks About The Changes In Their Characters; TVD Writer Reveals That There Will Be An Emotionally Traumatizing Episode

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 is anticipated to include many scenes that will focus on the unstable relationship of the Salvatore brothers after the arrival of Elena Gilbert in their lives.

Lead actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley reveal that the new season will likewise have a new dynamic between Damon and Stefan Salvatore. In an interview with Wetpaint, Somerhalder teases about not being able to locate his on-screen sibling: "I love this dynamic with Silas, and I love this new dynamic with Stefan once we find him - if we find Stefan."

Somerhalder also reminds fans not to raise their hopes up because Damon still has killer instincts intact: "Because that's the character we created, that's the character that people love. You can argue, 'Well people change.' But, look, this guy's 170 plus years old. He's not gonna change in the 2.5 years this show's been on."

Paul Wesley also shares his experience with portraying two characters in the series. Apart from his character Stefan, he is likewise playing the role of horrifying vampire Silas who takes over his body:  "It was more about making him 2,000 years old as opposed to someone 160 years old and this lost sort of guy who had a tremendous amount of guilt. I don't think Silas really has the guilt."

Writer Jeane de Vivre recently claimed that an upcoming episode of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 will expect "emotional trauma" to viewers: "P.S. I might call in sick tomorrow from the emotional trauma I have and will sustain after reading this script. @julieplec @carolinedries," she tweeted.

While the writer did not disclose anything, many assumed that the moment would take place in the 100th episode of 'The Vampire Diaries'.
