In 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5, the Salvatore brothers appear to have an array of problems. For Damon, it's coping with the jealousy that he feels towards Elena and her inevitable connection to Stefan. Stefan, on the other hand, is busy dealing with the effects of him being locked in an underwater safe for a long time.

In 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Episode 2 'True Lies', Stefan has been removed from the underwater safe but Damon and Elena did not see him. What they saw was a blood-drained man hinting that ripper Stefan might be on the loose.

The episode ended by revealing the identity of Stefan's "savior" who is Tessa. Played by 'True Blood' shape-shifter Janina Gavankar, Tessa lets out Stefan from his aquatic grave. Tessa isn't actually the one who pulled him from the quarry. She only figured out his location and asked an innocent cabin owner to pull him out. "You thanked him by biting off his head," says Tessa. Her motives are yet to be revealed.

On the other hand, Damon continues to battle with his own demons specifically his insecurity that Elena had a dream about hier ex-beau, Stefan.

Damon says, "I know I said it didn't both me that you have some psychic connection to your ex-boyfriend but I don't need a play-by-play," says Damon who's trying to mask his worry. There is a reason for Damon to worry because Elena and Stefan are "forever linked". No reason has been revealed yet but many are speculating that it's because the first love of Silas hauntingly looks very similar to Elena.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. on the CW.
