The pilot episode of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 leaves Elena Gilbert confused after finding out that her mysteriously murdered roommate Megan and father Grayson Gilbert knew each other. According to reports, Mr. Gilbert will be making a re-appearance in the fifth episode through a flashback to possibly reveal things about Megan.

Megan's murder can be attributed to a vampire attack based on the bite mark her neck carried. Elena and Caroline started their own investigation only to discover an aged photo of Megan with Grayson.

A brief report from E! Online Spoiler Chat column gives idea about Elena and Jeremy's father's return: "Grayson Gilbert is returning! No, not from the dead, but in a flashback. Fans will see Papa Gilbert again when a younger Elena catches him off guard while he's busy at work in their basement, which may be harboring some secrets."

Actress Kat Graham who plays witch Bonnie Bennet likewise hints about an impending conflict between her and Jeremy. Apart from Matt, Jeremy is the first to know that Bonnie is actually dead and not travelling the world like she claims to be doing:"She's always been able to fix any situation, so she assumes that will happen with this. She turns to Jeremy and he tries to get her to come to terms with the reality, leads to a conflict with Jeremy. He's always been this amazing support system and if he stops supporting her desire to keep her death a secret, there will be major problems."

Graham also adds that the newest season will have a focus on the mysterious realm 'The Other Side': "We've seen all these characters come and go, but nobody knows what happens to them. You will get to see that this season. And it's really cool."

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. on the CW network.
