Brandell Chamblee Tiger Woods Incident: Sports Analyst “Went Too Far” About The Tiger Article, Rory McIlroy Defends Fellow Golfer

There has been an ongoing online battle between Brandell Chamblee and Tiger Woods after the sports analyst said in his article in Golf.com that the golf champion cheated during the past PGA Tour.

Chamblee compared in his article his fourth grade cheating antics to Woods' mishaps this past tour.

"In offering my assessment of Tiger's year, and specifically looking at the incidents in Abu Dhabi, Augusta, Ponte Vedra and Chicago, I said Tiger Woods was cavalier about the rules, and I should have stopped right there," Chamblee said in a Golf Channel show. "In comparing those incidents to my cheating episode in the fourth grade, I went too far. Cheating involves intent, and I know what my intent was on that fourth-grade math test. But there is no way that I can know with 100% certainty what Tiger's intent was in any of those situations."

The Golf.com writer said in the article that his teacher placed a 100 mark on his test that was crossed out and replaced it with an "F" - same thing he did to his grade for Woods on his article. He admitted that "he went too far" with the comments he made.

The 37-year old golfer said that he was disappointed with the analyst and Golf Channel for this particular occurrence.

"I don't know what the Golf Channel is going to do or not," he said. "But then that's up to them. The whole issue has been very disappointing as he didn't really apologize and he sort of reignited the whole situation.

Rory McIlroy defends fellow golfer after hearing about Chamblee's article saying the analyst would be nothing if it weren't for Tiger.

"Yeah, I think Brandel was completely wrong. I don't think he has the authority to say anything like that about Tiger Woods," McIlroy said. "People wouldn't know who Brandel Chamblee was if it wasn't for Tiger Woods, so I am completely against what he said and I think he should be dealt with in the right way."

Tiger has been penalized four different times for rule violation. One of which was during the BMW Championship where his ball was sitting next to a twig when the number one golfer tried to move the twig but the ball moved for about a millimeter. The golfer was penalized for two strokes after viewing a zoomed in version of the replay of the incident.
