Very recently iPhone 5s battery problems have emerged, the problem vary from longer battery charging or shorter battery life. Apple is acknowledging the problem saying that there has been a manufacturing defect with the battery.

The Cupertino based company told New York Times that "a few thousand phones," are affected with the battery problem.

"We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life," Teresa Brewer a representative from Apple stated.

"We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone," she added.

Competitors of Apple also experienced problem with its handsets' battery this year. Samsung suffered the same fate earlier this October, when the Korea based company announced replacement programme for batteries in its Galaxy S4 units.

"We are aware of this issue, which has affected a limited number of customers," according to Samsung's statement. "We ask all affected customers to please visit their nearest Samsung Electronics service centre, where they can receive a replacement battery for free of charge."

This is not the first controversy from Apple's latest flagship phone, earlier this month motion sensors including but not limited to the Level, Gyroscope, Compass and Accelerometer on iPhone 5s were reportedly malfunctioning and delivering unreliable results. Nevertheless, the giant Cupertino Company addressed this problem by releasing an update for its OS; the solution for an accelerometer calibration problem is iOS 7.0.3. The system update also fixed the phone's stability when using iWork apps.

Apple sold nine million iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C smartphones combined in their opening weekend, but a figure break down between the two handsets was not revealed. Reports claim that iPhone 5s is outselling iPhone 5c globally by just under 4:1.
