Nexus Gem Smartwatch Release Date: New Wearable Device Launching Around Early To Mid-2014?

Nexus Gem smartwatch release date set for early next year?

According to a post on International Digital Times, a Google smartwatch release date has been confirmed, citing a post on Wall Street Journal suggesting that the device is "coming in a matter of months."

Unofficially called the "Google Nexus Gem smartwatch, the device is reportedly in the late stages of development already and the internet and tech company is already preparing for the mass production of the wearable mobile device through Asian suppliers.

A tipster, Artem Russakovskii, previously said, "Google will announce a Nexus watch, codenamed Gem, likely together with the KitKat announcement. The date I have, which, once again, is about a month old, is also October 31st."  But apparently, his guess about the Nexus Gem smartwatch release date was wrong.

One of the main features of the Google Nexus Gem smartwatch is the Google Now, which is highly regarded for "its commands and ability to provide users with various notifications including, appointments, meetings, events, directions, remainders, movie show times and adapt itself to information that users are interested in" as posted on iDigital Times.

With Google Now on the Nexus Gem smartwatch that is linked to any Android phone, this would give a significant advantage to other competing smartwatch devices such as the Sony Smartwatch 2, Pebble smartwatch and Samsung Galaxy Gear.

Furthermore, another main difference that the Nexus Gem smartwatch will get from the competition is that it will run the stock Android 4.4 KitKat. Also, Motorola is also believed to be the one in-charge of the Nexus Gem smartwatch.

As expected, Google is not making any official statements yet about the Nexus Gem smartwatch release date and all the reports about the upcoming device remain to be unofficial and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, tech enthusiasts should expect more Google Nexus Gem release date rumors in the coming days and weeks.
