Sony Xperia Z1 Mini price, release date and specs could all come clearer and certain by the end of this month. Numerous media outlets speculate that the Sony Xperia Z1f, which has already been released in Japan by telecom giant, NTT DoCoMo will be the mini version of the technically impressive, Sony Xperia Z1.

Names for the supposed compact version of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini is Sony Xperia Z1S, as reported by Phone Arena. Know Your Mobile reported last month, citing source from Chines social media, that Sony is planning to hold an event in Shanghai to launch the international version of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini on November 12.

Applying similar pricing strategies from other “mini” Android handsets, we’re speculating that the price for the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini dubbed Sony Xperia Z1S would be $100-200.00 less than the Sony Xperia Z1. This could come at a price of around $400-500.

The only thing smaller in the compact version is obviously the display size, which comes at 4.3-inch compared to its original version, which has a 5-inch display. Under the hood, however, specs for the alleged Z1 Mini is the same.

The upcoming device has a powerful Snapdragon 800 system chip and an impressive 20MP camera with a larger than usual 1/2.3” camera sensor. Phone Arena also noted that it will have the same sleek water and dust resistant body.

The one main internal component that has been reduced in this compact version is the battery. Battery capacity for the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini is at 2300mAh, down from 3000mAh on the flagship 5-inch Xperia Z1.
Like the Sony Xperia Z1, it’s expected that this compact version will be well-received, though it’s the pricing that will determine how well it will fly with consumers. There are no given availability dates on when it will hit store shelves worldwide or be ready for pre-order.
