Tom Cruise Sues Two Magazines Claiming That He’s A Negligent Father; ‘I Have In No Way Cut Suri Out Of My Life,’ Defends The ‘Oblivion’ Actor

Tom Cruise is suing two major publications for their allegedly false claims about him being an absentee father to his 7-year-old daughter, Suri.

Following his divorce from Katie Holmes in 2012, Cruise's daughter had to live with her mother in New York. However, as opposed to the magazines' claims that he abandoned his daughter, the 'Top Gun' star defended himself by submitting a two-page document that will support the $50 million-defamation suit that he filed.

"I have in no way cut Suri out of my life - whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise," wrote Cruise in the document.

The magazines are Life & Style and In Touch which both fall under the Bauer publishing group. The articles were published last year indicating Cruise's neglect of Suri because of his film commitments overseas. The actor had two international projects in the later part of 2012 specifically in United Kingdom and Iceland.

Despite his commitments then, the actor claimed that he phoned Suri nearly every day and visited her in person in July, August, and November.  His statement emphasized Suri's state as a child: "While I'm sure my daughter misses me when I am not with her (as I miss her), she is a very happy child. Suri has never indicated, in words or substance, that she has ever felt abandoned by me."

Bauer's attorneys, on the other hand, say that the actor's motion should be dismissed because the magazines' claims were backed up by a group of strong yet confidential sources.

Apart from his daughter with Holmes, Cruise likewise has two adopted children during his marriage with ex-wife Nicole Kidman: Connor, 17, and Isabella, 19.
