NBA Trade Rumors – Demar DeRozan, Rudy Gay, Kyle Lowry All Up For Trades; Only Valanciunas Untouchable In Toronto

The Toronto Raptors wanted major changes. They got a bold and brazen GM in Masai Ujiri who was a former Executive of the Year winner.

One of his most applauded moves was trading Andrea Bargnani. Most Toronto fans would love to see him go, but the fact that Ujiri got some value and picks for him is already an achievement.

The Raptors were a team that a lot of people were expecting to tank-meaning they would try to lose games this season for better draft position and salary cap flexibility to acquire a free agent. To execute this, they needed to get rid of their newly-acquired resident superstar Rudy Gay. There were offers around the league, most notable was from Detroit, but Ujiri played it safe and held on to Gay, just in case he would become their franchise player.

Now Ujiri is ready to make some heads roll. Despite a fairly good start, he is determined to convert his present assets for possible building blocks.

An ESPN report quoted a source that was 'close to the Raptors' saying that Ujiri was prepared to trade "anyone but Jonas Valanciunas." The Raptors young center from Lithuania saw some vast improvement during the summer. He was touted as one of the top prospects and was selected fifth overall despite the fact that he was still under contract. Toronto thought he was worth the wait.

This season, Raptors fans believe he will show the fulfillment of his potential. They are willing to trade anyone, including three prime veterans: Gay, DeMar DeRozan and point guard Kyle Lowry.

Gay and Lowry were already part of previous trade rumors, but DeRozan was a surprise. He has a good start this season and the Raptors are making him an offensive centerpiece. Perhaps they are just increasing his trade value so they can get a serviceable player along with a first round pick.
