Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Spoilers: Producer Hints That Ezra And Aria Might Break Up PLUS Special Episode In Black And White To Be Aired Next Year

For fans who are eager to know about the couples who will stay strong this season, the show's creator, Marlene King, gave hints about the resident 'Pretty Little Liars' lovers.

"Spoby's [Spencer & Toby] solid for now. Haleb [Hanna & Caleb] is in flux, but those two love each other. It's been such a roller coaster ride this year for our couples, and for us when we create the show. I love Spoby, I love Haleb, I love Ezria [Ezra & Aria], and when you put these couples in the ringer as we've done, it's painful for us," claims King.

While Spencer and Toby's love story appears to be safe this season, such is not the same thing for Ezra and Aria. King indirectly mentions that the love story of the two will involve heavy drama:"If I can make myself cry, if I can give myself goosebumps, then it's good storytelling and I know it's effective."

If there's one thing fans can be sure of, it's the fact that 'Pretty Little Liars' will not follow the television trend of friends stealing each other's significant half: "We try not to do that on PLL and we'll try not to do that on Ravenswood - we like girls to support girls. It's sort of the cardinal rule - no PLL ever touches another PLL boyfriend, or girlfriend, in Emily's case."

Another reason why fans should be excited is the show's episode which will air on February 11. To complement the storyline, 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 will do something exceptional and create the whole episode in full black and white.

"ABC Family noticed what we were doing visually on the show, going for very noirlike effects, and asked if we wanted to go all the way and make something special in black and white," reveals executive producer Joe Dougherty.

Dougherty similarly explains that creating the noir episode entails harder work. He specifically points out that they encountered challenges in the wardrobe department for they needed to test clothes that would still stand out in a colorless environment.

'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4B will be returning on January 7 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
