Microsoft Surface Mini: 7.5-Inch Windows Tablet Rumored To Arrive Spring 2014, Other Specs Include 5GB RAM, Custom ADM GPU

Microsoft Surface Mini news and update: As Surface 2 was recently launched and the comment of an executive from Microsoft’s Surface division saying that the company is working on the device and considering all dimensions and sizes, rumors has since sprung that the tech giant will be producing Microsoft Surface Mini. It’s expected to be launched in Spring of next year.

Specs for the said device include a 7.5-inch display with the same 4:3 ratio used by Apple in its iPads, according to T3.com. It’s look would probably follow the design of the Surface 2. Other speculations on the device include a 3.1 GHz six-core IBM Power7 SCMs with 5GB of RAM and a custom ADM GPU.

Rumors about a Microsoft Surface mini was fueled by a comment made by a key Microsoft executive in charge for the Redmond tech-giant’s Surface division.

“We have a lot of great things that we are thinking about and working on, and there are multiple aspect ratios and sizes and awesome things to come from Surface,” was the answer of Panos Panay's, Microsoft VP responsible for the company’s Surface tablets, when asked about the details of the rumored Microsoft Surface Mini, according to Geekwire.com.

It was the Surface 2’s previously announced details that were the focus of the talk but in the end Panay was questioned about the speculation relating to Microsoft’s plan of working on a “Surface Mini”. Panay however was too careful with his words when he answered it and added to his earlier comments, “That’s the best answer I have for you”.

Many analysts expect more rumors to come on Microsoft’s plans for a new tablet as early next year arrives with the Consumer Electronics Show and Mobile World Congress.
