Android 4.4 KitKat Features, News: Google’s Newest Mobile OS Offers NFC, Full-Screen Immersive Mode, Improved Multi-Tasking & Direct Printing Amongst Others

Android 4.4 KitKat features and news: Amidst all the speculation on when the Android 4.4 KitKat will arrive on various phones (it’s only available with the Nexus 5 at the moment), the newest mobile OS by Google sports a host of various features that intended to raise the bar on enhanced user experience for Android users.

According to PC Advisor U.K., some of the features included in the Android 4.4 KitKat include the ability to take NFC payments, full-screen mode option, enhanced multi-tasking and an option to command print from the device.

NFC Payments. Android 4.4 KitKat introduces a brand-new, open architecture for NFC payments, one that can work with any carrier. The host-card emulation (HCE) means that any app on the Android device can serve as an NFC smart card. With the new system update, apps can manage your payment information in the cloud or on your device.

Full-screen Immersive Mode. According to PC Advisors, the Immersive Mode is one of the biggest features of the Android 4.4 KitKat. Users with the latest OS can now switch to full-screen to see more and simply swipe from the top or bottom edge of the screen to get the buttons back.

Enhanced Multi-tasking. Android has already have an appealing multi-tasking capability, which it takes to another notch with the Android 4.4 KitKat. Thanks to optimize memory, the new mobile OS has enhanced the experience in order that touchscreens respond faster and more accurately.

Printing. Printing has now become a possibility, direct from your phone, which will allow the user to have any documents printed on any printers connected to Google Cloud Print, HP ePrint and others that have apps in the Google Play store.

These new features are far from the only new offerings that the new mobile OS offers. Google Drive is now integrated in the platform which gives users the ability to save files from apps like Quickoffice, to Google Drive or other cloud storage providers.

Other new features in Android 4.4 KitKat also include HDR + photography, full-screen wallpapers, infrared blasting and location in quick setting.
