Kim Kardashian received myriad accusations of being a part of Illuminati after her recent Instagram post. The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' actress uploaded a photo of herself with her best friend, Brittany Gastineau. The actress merely wanted to send her heartfelt greetings but the Instagram collage design that she picked was reminiscent of the Illuminati symbol.

"Happy Birthday to my best friend... We've shared soooo many memories over the past years! I love you!" wrote the future Mrs. West as the photo's caption.

Followers of the actress were quick to ask about the meaning behind the collage design. Kardashian explained her choice for design: "What is the illuminate? A religion?... I'm a Christian. A cult?... not into that sorry! It had an eye on it, which reminded me of Britt bc her company 'eye on glam' & reminds me of against evil eye bracelets we wear. So sorry guys it was just a cool design I saw on one of those IG collage apps."

Kardashian's fiancé was likewise accused of joining the cult after his Twitter joke in 2010: "Question... can you devil worship on the new iPhone??? LOL!!!"

"What's better for devil worshipping Iphone or the Droid... Does Lucifer return text... is he or she on Skype? Don't wanna be sexist," added the Yeezus performer.

To defend himself, West explained in MTV why people thought of him as a devil worshipper: "There's this line where I say, 'I sold my soul to the devil, that's a crappy deal,' and all these people said, 'What you mean you sold your soul to the devil?' But when I say it, I'm saying, when I allow other people's ideals to interfere with what I know is true to myself, that's the devil. So, it's like, people talking mess on the blogs is the devil or ...trying to call me names, that's what the devil is. And me thinking twice about what it is that's really in my heart because of what people's reaction would be is me selling my soul to the devil."

Apart from West and Kardashian, several celebrities have been previously rumored to be a part of Illuminati including Jay-z, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga.
