NBA News 2013: Andrew Bynum Bothered With Injury Thought Of Early Retirement, Returned To Philadelphia

After a return for a struggling Andrew Bynum to Philadelphia where they lost 79-94 the Sixers will be playing the Cavs in Cleveland for a home-to-home set.

Bynum who was greeted by boos in Philadelphia, managed to record four points and five rebounds by playing less than 20 minutes in the game.

"I don't really care [how the fans will treat him]. It is what it is. I was hurt and I'm still hurt but I'm trying. ... Nothing went bad, nothing went wrong. I think people just need to accept the facts that my knees are the way they are," the player who won two titles with the Lakers said.

The now Cavs center who suffered tough injuries didn't play a single game when he was with the Sixers last season.

"[The injury is] still career-threatening. I'm a shell of myself right now on the court. I'm just struggling mentally. I'm trying," the player said.

Still struggling with injuries and limited minutes feels that he isn't as effective as before have the thoughts for an early retirement.

"Retirement was a thought, it was a serious thought. It still is," the 26-year old said in an interview. "It's tough to enjoy the game because of how limited I am physically. I'm working through that."

Meanwhile, analysts predicted the Sixers who now have a 4-2 record following the win against Bynum's former team, to have the worst record in the season.

"I think the biggest thing is we're not listening to anyone on the outside and we're just coming to work ready to play," Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young said. "We have a young, hard-working group of guys in here and we all have a lot to prove. We just need to stick together and I think our confidence is growing with each win."
