New Pokemon X And Y Mega Evolution Artwork Unveiled [PHOTOS]: Art Director Wants Reduced Number Of Attacks, Abilities, And Items

Pokemon X and Y have been released, and a slew of new Mega Evolution artwork images have surfaced to showcase new Pokedex entries of the franchise.

As seen on Serebii, a recent Japanese guide has unveiled artwork for a number of new Pokemon in X and Y, including Mega Evolution entries which have yet to be formally introduced.

In the images above, you can see artwork for Mega Evolution Pokemon like Mega Manectric, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Heracross.

In addition, artwork for other Pokedex entries like Florges, Trevenant, and Avalugg.

What do you think of these X and Y artwork? Do they make you see these Pokemon in a different light?

Meanwhile, a recent interview with art director Ken Sugimori has illuminated some opinions of reducing the increasingly complex and robust franchise back to the basics ala Red and Blue.

According to Gamespot, Sugimura believes that while reducing the 700+ Pokedex entries will be impossible at this point, "it might be in the series' best interests to make a large adjustment to the number of attacks, abilities, and items."

With each generation, it becomes more difficult to strip down to the basics, as fans want more, not less.

However, given his own opinions and the feedback of some Pokemon fans, he believes simplifying the designs used for the Pokemon outside of the game, could be a way to experiment with the idea of simplification without disrupting the direction of the franchise as a whole.

What do you think? Would you prefer a simpler Pokemon as opposed to the complex world of Pokemon X and Y?
