Tyson Chandler Injury: Knicks Struggles More After Chandler’s Injury, Can They Get A “W” With All Their Big Men Out?

The New York Knicks continue to struggle as they feel the loss of their center Tyson Chandler due to knee injuries.

Chandler who is out for four to six weeks is being replaced in the lineup by a more of an offensive big man in Andrea Bargnani.

In last Sunday’s game against the Spurs, the Knicks were out rebounded 51-33 at home. New York who lacks big men due to injuries like Kenyon Martin and limited minutes for Amare Stoudamire, recorded just one rebound for their big man Bargnani compared to what Chandler can deliver who averages 9.0 rebounds per game.

Greg Popovich, coach of the Spurs, was very pleased with their game where they annihilated the home team with a 120-89 victory.

“I thought tonight we played a good, solid B+, A- game,” Pops said. “There were some good things out there.”

Carmelo Anthony of the Knicks on the other hand was disheartened by their loss especially failing to please New York fans in their home floor.

“It was embarrassing for us to come here on our home court and lose a game like this,” Anthony said. “It wasn't about losing the game, it was just how we lost the game. We didn't compete today and it showed out there on the court.”

The New York star added that they have to regroup as a team and try to compensate the defensive loss they’re experiencing without a big man.

'I'm not worried but we do have to figure it out,” Anthony said. “Whatever it is we have to figure out quickly, but as far as being worried, I'm not worried about that. But we need to figure it out.”

Meanwhile, JR Smith who just came back to play after experiencing injuries was happy with how he played despite his one out of nine field goals in the game.

“I didn't feel rusty at all. I just missed a lot of shots, didn't get to the basket like I wanted to and overall I didn't have a good game,” Smith said.
