Anthony Davis Stats: Pelicans Center Finally Shows Potential With Consistent Double-Double Games, Proves Why He Was First Overall Pick

Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans is the team's franchise player. He is showing everyone why he was first overall pick of last year's draft.

Davis now averages double-double stats consistently compared to last year. He currently averages 21.7 points and 11.6 rebounds per game compared to 13.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in the previous season.

During last Friday's game against the Lakers, he recorded 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and tied a career best with six blocks as for his career-high game where they won 96-85 at home.

"I mean, he's the franchise. He's that guy. He's the go-to guy and everybody here knows it," teammate Jrue Holiday said after their game against the Lakers. "We want him to be that guy. It's awesome to see."

"M-V-P" chants were even heard during that game after blocking Pau Gasol on the other end and rushed to the other end to score a basket and get a foul - a rare feat for a big man like him.

"He's a special player because he's athletic," Gasol said. "He's able to block a shot on one end and sprint to the other end and get a layup ... so you really have to keep up with him because he creates a threat to you that's a little different than other players."

"He's got a good shooting touch. He's got a complete package for his second year in the league," he added. "It's pretty impressive."

According to ESPN.com, the 20-year old also now holds the record for the youngest player to record a 30 plus points, 10 plus rebounds and six steals at 20 years and 242 days old surpassing records of Shaquille O'Neal and Chris Webber who did the same feat when they were 20 years and 309 days old.

We'll just have to see how far can he take his now younger and stronger team.
