Even if fans will not be seeing 'Pretty Little Liars' for quite some time, they are still eager to find out what awaits them when the series comes back for its 19^th episode.

'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 Episode 19 will be far from ordinary because it will be played in a black and white format. The episode, which will be titled 'Shadow Play', is devoid of color to complement the creepy storyline.

For fans who are wondering whether the show merely wanted to be different, writer and director Joseph Dougherty hinted about the heavy drama that the episode would include. On his Twitter, he wrote:  "I'll tell you a couple of things I believe about #419. It's not a gimmick, it's a very grounded way to look at the characters. We took the process very seriously, and there is as much moment to moment emotional honesty in #419 as there is in any episode of #PLL."

'Shadow Play' will have 'Wizard of Oz' as its inspiration but according to Dougherty, it can be appropriately described as 'Oz but in a reversed version'.

While zombie thriller drama 'The Walking Dead' likewise experimented with a black and white format, 'Shadow Play' is the first try of 'Pretty Little Liars'.

Producers recently mentioned that they needed to double their effort especially in the wardrobe department. Although tricky, the upcoming episode aspires to give viewers a delightful visual treat.
