Aside from unspecified Minecraft PS4 release date, the launch schedules for other consoles like PS Vita and Xbox One are still unknown. 4J Studios shared, "No confirmed dates yet - we'll let you know when we have dates for the other platforms."

The original version of Minecraft, created by indie game developer Mojang, was released on PC in 2011. But due to its success, it was able to port onto Android and iOS platforms.

Minecraft is the brainchild of indie developer Markus 'Notch' Persson and initially saw release on the PC in 2011. In addition to making its way onto Android and iOS platforms, 4J Studios brought the title to Xbox 360 earlier this year, where it enjoy critical and commercial success.

On game consoles, Minecraft is currently available exclusively to Xbox, with 4J Studios successfully bringing the game to Xbox 360 earlier this 2013. In fact, Minecraft Xbox 360 edition has already sold over 8 million copies, according to Gamespot. Minecraft will also be available to Microsoft's next-generation console, the Xbox One.
