MLB All Star Players David Ortiz And Andrew McCutchen Will Be Producing New Show For MTV - It Is Going To Be A Lot Of Fun To Show A Different Side Of Baseball,’ Mccutchen Says

Looks Like MLB will be having some MTV flare on its hand as Red Sox's David Ortiz and Pirates' Andrew McCutchen will be producing a show on music's network giant, another feat for the two of the most popular player in the league. Ortiz was crowned MVP on the World Series while McCutchen is a finalist on the National League Most Valuable Player Award.

The tow All-Stars will be the executive producers of a new 30-episode series on MTV2, which will be aired weekly. The show is part of the multi-year, cross-platform agreement that was announced by Major League Baseball and MTV on Monday.

The partnership intends to reach the younger generation fans of MLB that will take them inside the league. The show will be debuting next April and the shooting will take place at the MLB Fan Cave at Fourth Street and Broadway, which will showcase players personalities and passions not to mention celebrity appearances as well.

"The MLB Fan Cave has been an enormous success in showcasing the personalities of our star players to young fans and intersecting baseball with pop culture," according to Tim Brosnan, MLB's executive vice president. "Being able to partner with MTV on a weekly TV series will give us an opportunity to bring that concept to an even broader audience. We are excited to work with the creative team at MTV to develop content that our fans will enjoy."

"As sports and pop culture increasingly collide, we're thrilled to partner with MLB to cover baseball through a uniquely MTV lens," MTV president Stephen Friedman said. "We will blur the lines between lifestyle and sports entertainment, spotlighting MLB's most exciting players in a way fans have never seen before."

Both players played an important role at the Fan Cave, they had been out on the streets of New York producing viral videos. The fourth season of Fan Cave will be returning and is now looking for the next group of Cave Dwellers for its Opening Day 2014.

"Music is a passion of mine, so when I was asked to be involved in a show that brings baseball to MTV, I jumped at it," McCutchen stated. "It is going to be a lot of fun to show a different side of baseball and the players."

"Players want to be musicians and the musicians want to be players," according to Ortiz. "So it's going to be pretty easy to get my friends in baseball to have some fun on MTV."

MTV's channel and platforms - MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits and MTV Jams - will be airing the contents of the new partnership.
