‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 Casting: More Than 20 New Characters Added; Are There Too Many Storylines To Keep Track Of?

"Game of Thrones" season 4 will add more than 20 new characters to the cast, when "Game of Thrones" season 4 premieres next spring. Will there be too many storylines to keep track of with all these new characters?

Fans of "Game of Thrones" won't ever forget the end of season 3, where lots of favorites characters were killed off at the Red Wedding. To replace them, and to keep up with the plot development of George R.R. Martin's novels, 21 new characters are being added to "Game of Thrones" season 4, Uproxx reports.

The big casting announcements include Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris, Indira Varma as Ellaria Sand, Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell (known as the "Red Viper of Dorne"), and the recasting of Daario Naharis, The Stir reports.

Others include Struan Rodger as the Three-Eyed Raven, and the recently-announced casting of Yuri Kolokolnikov as Styr, the Magnar of Thenn.

But do all these new characters mean even more storylines to keep track of in the HBO series? As The Stir reports, it's already hard enough keeping track of Jon, Daenerys, Arya, Jaime, Brienne, Tyrion, Cersei, Tywin, Petyr, Davos, Stannis, Sansa, Theon, Bran, Joffrey, Sam, Ygritte, and Varys. And it seems as though producers are having a hard time giving adequate screen time to each of these characters' storylines.

Luckily, most of the new characters are minor, and if there's one thing we can be sure of it's that - unfortunately - more characters will be killed off as the show goes on. Hopefully the producers can make all the plotlines run together smoothly.

"Game of Thrones" season 4 premieres spring 2014.
