‘Justice League’ Movie To Feature Only Five Heroes – Who Will It Be?; Guillermo Del Toro Confirms DC Universe To Rival Marvel

Warner Bros. Studios needs to make up for lost time, so they want to kick off the rumored 'Justice League' movie with just five superheroes.

The DC Universe has not been portrayed on the big screen as coherently as what Marvel is doing. The success of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe is unprecedented and is definitely a model that most studios will seek to emulate.

As "Thor: The Dark World" leans towards the $500million mark (337M as of today), and it has only spent one weekend in North America (source:Box Office Mojo). "Iron Man 3" has also exceeded past the $1billion mark. Warner Bros is salivating at this success as "Man of Steel" only has $662 to date.

The studio will not emulate the "X-Men" model with its upcoming "Days of Future Past" a virtual mutant reunion with almost 30 super-heroes/villains from past, future and present. Instead, going with a few, well developed characters with their own solo movies is a better path with the DC heroes.

The five heroes are Superman, Batman (confirmed with the Man of Steel sequel) and from a report by Latino Review, Green Lantern, The Flash and Wonder Woman. It's quite predictable as they are the five founding members of the Justice League.

However, the DC Universe will not be limited to those five heroes. Warner Bros' own geek god Guillermo Del Toro (director of "Pacific Rim") reveals that DC has indeed big plans. They will not back down from Marvel's dominance.

In an interview with cinefilos.it in the Festiva de Roma: "We're still on (Justice League Dark), writing, and hopefully it will happen but there are no developments that are new. We're still at Warner Bros., they are making plans for the entire DC universe. All the superheroes, all the mythologies, and part of that is Justice League Dark. They're planning on TV, movies, and all the media, so we have to fit into that plan."

The "entire DC Universe" and "all the media" sounds ambitious. Not a new thing for Del Toro, though.
