NBA Draft 2014 – NCAA Champions Classic Has Top Three In Action! Will Julius Randle Steal The Top Spot From Andrew Wiggins?

The Champions Classic is an event that featured some of the recent champion colleges playing against each other.

This year featured stellar matchups: Michigan State (ranked no.2) versus Kentucky (no.1) and the second game had Duke (no.4) versus Kansas (no.5). For NBA enthusiasts, aside from the great games, the main reason is to watch is to see the projected top three picks in next year's draft.

In the first game, the experienced Michigan State defeated the super-talented Kentucky. This is a key factor in college basketball that the NBA doesn't have. Most people would think that the top recruiting school would always win. The strategy of recruiting uber-talented players results in losing them to the draft and having to rebuild every season. This is a path that John Calipari takes.

On the other hand, teams like Michigan State and Duke would have one or two five star recruits per year (as opposed to five that Kentucky has). They would lose their best player, but they develop a great core that would stay together for three to four years. Kansas has a strategy similar to North Carolina, that shifts from  recuiting and developing depending on their haul.

Kentucky was a freshman team. Their second year players didn't have much playing time last year. Now they join seven freshmen. The most talented group of freshmen, but freshmen nonetheless. It showed in their turnovers, their missed free throws. Yet they only lost by two points. This team will get better, and scary.

The scariest of them all was Julius Randle. He finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds. He's a beast on the court and the perfect combination of size and strength.

The second game saw the most hyped college players since Lebron James. Jabari Parker (27 points, 9 rebounds) had that inscription when he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Andrew Wiggins (22points, 9 rebounds)has NBA teams trying to lose for him (#RigginforWiggins). A Wiggins-led rally propelled Kansas to win over Jabari Parker's game long excellence.

Scouts verdict: Parker is the most NBA ready player with his skills. Randle will be a beast but he will not be as dominant since the opposition in the NBA would be bigger. That's still not bad at all. Wiggins is raw and sometimes, his effort is questionable. However, he is a perfect basketball athlete who can play most any position.

Julius Randle's monstrous numbers has NBA teams considering him for the top pick. He is worth the top pick in any other draft, but in a draft with Wiggins, there should be no question.
