Install Android 4.4 KitKat Update On Samsung Galaxy Note 2; OmniROM Firmware Available For AT&T, T-Mobile, GT-N7105 and GT-N7100 Units

Users of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can now experience the latest Google operating system, the Android 4.4 KitKat.

The official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is the latest firmware made available for Samsung Galaxy Note 2. And thanks to OmniRom developers, owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 now have an option to install Android 4.4 KitKat update on their phablet.

The OmniRom firmware based on Android 4.4 KitKat update is compatible to various models for Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Particularly, those who are holding the AT&T and T-Mobile variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, as well as those units bearing the model number GT-N7105 and GT-N7100 can now download the OmniRom firmware and install Android 4.4 KitKat update.

You can check out and download the OmniRom file on this XDA post.

Since OmniRom is not an official Android 4.4 KitKat firmware, users are advised to be extra careful during the installation process. Also, this is the first build launch, so Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users should expect that there can be bugs and issues along the way.

The OmniRom firmware, which carries Android 4.4 KitKat update for different variants of Samsung Galaxy Note, is based on AOSP, meaning it is built using the Android Open Source code.

Before installing Android 4.4 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy Note 2, users need to make sure first that the battery level of the phablet is 80 percent or higher. This is to make sure that there will be no power interruption caused by battery drainage during the process. Otherwise, it can result to undesirable effects.

Furthermore, when using unofficial firmware for Android 4.4 KitKat update, it is important for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users to create a backup of all the data and settings stored on the device.  Custom recovery tools that can be used are ClockWorkMod or TWRP.
Moreover, verify the model number of your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Again, as aforementioned, OmniRom firmware with Android 4.4 KitKat update is only compatible to units bearing the model number GT-N7105 and GT-N7100, and the branded variants, the AT&T Note 2 and the T-Mobile Note 2.
