Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus Update: With Moto G’s Release, Will You Finally Ditch The S2’s Successor For A Future Android 4.4 Device?

Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus update: The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus is still unconfirmed to get the Android 4.3 update and earlier reports have indicated that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean maybe the last update available for the successor of the Samsung Galaxy S2.

In previous reports, many have indicated that the availability of the Android 4.2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus has made it a better option than the Samsung Galaxy S3. There were even hopes that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus might get the Android 4.4 KitKat, which was only dashed when Google announced that such devices may not get an update.

Then came the affordable and well-designed Moto G, which will soon be available this January with an Android 4.3, and a promise by Motorola of an Android 4.4 KitKat update in the coming weeks. Price at $179, will this finally force S2 Plus loyalists to switch?

The Moto G’s retail price of $179, contract-free and unlocked brings with it a load of features including a 4.5-inch display with 720p LCD TFT, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.3 MP front-facing camera, and a 2070mAh battery.

The phone’s design, which mirrors the look of the Moto X, could make it a hit in the low-end market. The price and features of the handset effectively beats what’s available in the emerging markets. Motorola, a Google-owned company, says that the Moto G could even be sold for less by its partners.

The earlier released Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus, however, whose retail price is almost at $300.00 has a 4.3-inch display and a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor. Camera-wise, the S2 Plus has an edge on the camera with 8MP and also possessing a 1GB RAM system memory.

It will be interesting to see how consumers would respond once Moto G arrives in the market, as it poses possibly the greatest threat to older Samsung device who still tends to get a cult following despite being two or three iterations ago.
