‘Bond 24’ Rumors: Will Blofield Return As The Villain? Producers Settle James Bond Rights, Allowing SPECTRE Leader To Appear In New Movies

In the latest James Bond movie rumors, "Bond 24," the upcoming latest installment in the James Bond series, may see the return of Blofield as the villain. Producers recently settled a dispute over James Bond rights, meaning the SPECTRE leader Blofield could appear in the "Bond 24" movie.

According to the LA Times, MGM and Danjaq LLC. have acquired all the rights and interests related to the 007 spy James Bond, after a copyright dispute that lasted more than 50 years.

Ultimately, this means that the rights for the character Blofield, who headed up the secretive Cold War organisation SPECTRE, are settled, after they were previously jointly owned by 007 creator Ian Fleming and "Thunderball" co-writer Kevin McClory, Sky Movies reports.

While there has been no confirmation that Blofield will return for the upcoming latest installment in the James Bond franchise, "Bond 24," rumors suggest it is possible, since Blofeld is one of the most famous villains in cinema, having appeared in six Bond films, Sky Movies reports. His iconic look - grey pantsuit, bald head, and a white cat in his lap - inspired the famous parody in the form of Doctor Evil in the Austin Powers series.

The settlement over the James Bond rights was announced in a joint statement, Aceshowbiz reports: "Danjaq, LLC, the producer of the James Bond films, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the longtime distributor of the Bond films, along with the estate and family of the late Kevin McClory, announced today that Danjaq and MGM have acquired all of the estate's and family's rights and interests relating to James Bond, thus bringing to an amicable conclusion the legal and business disputes that have arisen periodically for over 50 years."

The next Bond movie has a November 6, 2015 release date. Daniel Craig (the 007 agent), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny), and Ben Whishaw (Q) are expected to reprise their respective roles in "Bond 24." Sam Mendes is also back to helm the film as director, Aceshowbiz reports.
