Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumors: New Droid Reportedly Getting 64-Bit Exynos CPU, ARM Hints 128-Bit Variants In The Next Two Years

In the mobile phone industry, it is always exciting to see some real innovation. Apple recently unveiled its 64-bit CPU for the iPhone 5s, and now the catch-up drama begins. One of the recent Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors is that the upcoming flagship phone will also boast a 64-bit CPU.

In a report by the Korea Herald, sources say that the Korean manufacturer and CPU maker ARM have been in a meeting today to finalize plans for the 64-bit CPU that will come aboard the Galaxy S5.

However, both companies have other things in mind as they also talked about developing Cortex-M processors for Samsung's appliances and home appliance systems.

In this partnership, both Samsung and ARM would certainly take the spotlight off from Apple and its premium devices. The 64-bit CPU which will allegedly arrive in the Galaxy S5 would surely lead other manufacturers to do the same.

As early as September, Samsung has already expressed its plans in developing a 64-bit CPU for its upcoming smartphones, and it will only take time until it achieves its goal for the S5, as well as the Galaxy Note 4.

Meanwhile, ARM also hinted that it is already working on a 128-bit CPU, which may hit the market in 2014 or 2015. According to the report by GSM Arena, this upgraded chip would cater to more advance biometric-based systems and applications, including face recognition technology.

The future of the mobile industry sure looks bright with these developments, and every manufacturer will strive to be noticed by consumers all over the world.
