Fifty Shades Of Grey Book Shocking Discovery: Two Belgian Professors Found Traces Of Herpes And Cocaine On A Copy Of The Erotica Novel From Antwerp Library

Fifty Shades Of Grey book has been reported to have traces of herpes virus and cocaine according to a pair of Belgian professors found in Antwerp library.

Tango, a romance novel written by Pieter Aspe, was also tested positive for herpes; these most books were tested from the shelves of Antwerp library.

The researchers at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium started a study that ran chemical tests on the 10 most popular or most borrowed books at the said library. All of which were tested positive for traces of cocaine.

Toxicology professor Jan Tytgat from Catholic University of Leuven told the Flanders News website that the findings for both herpes and cocaine were not harmful for future readers of the book hence those were too small.

"The levels found won't have a pharmacological effect. Your consciousness or behaviour won't change as a result of reading the tomes," Tytfat explained.

Professors and academes alike have been testing the hygiene of books for quite some time already. A study was made by the students of Brigram Young University in Utah where they found that books from the university that were categorized as in high demand contain an average of 25-40 percent more microbes than those books that are neglected.

The researchers counted the number of colony of bacterial growth from the library books. "We just counted them all up ... 'one, two, three, OK, there are 16 spots ... ew, gross,'" according to team member Joshua Nicholson.

Are public library books contaminated by bacteria? An earlier study that was published in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, reckoned that books from the library are not harmful to humans.

"The microbial flora on the surfaces of 15 books obtained from a public library and from 15 books obtained from a family household were studied. Staphylococcus epidermidis was recovered from four of the library books and three of the family household books. The number of organisms per page was between one to four. This data illustrates the safety of using library books, as they do not serve as a potential source of transmission of virulent bacteria," as concluded by authors Itzhak Brook and Sara J Brook.

The erotic Fifty Shades of Grey book raised some controversy when it was released in the market two years ago due to the elaborate story telling of the love affair between sadomasochist billionaire Christian Grey and his young publishing graduate lover Anastasia Steele.

Currently the Fifty Shades of Grey book is being adapted into a film, which will be directed by Sam Taylor-Wood, scheduled to be released on Valentine's day of 2015 starring Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey opposite Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.
