Xbox One Release Date Already Set For Friday, November 22; ‘SmartGlass’ Companion App For Microsoft’s Next-Gen Console Now Available For Windows Phones

Xbox One release date is finally happening this week.

The much-anticipated Xbox One release date is already about to happen by the end of this week. Particularly, Xbox One release date is slated for November 22 in the US. And to celebrate Xbox One release date, Microsoft will be hosting launch evens both in New York City and Los Angeles on the night of November 21, as posted on Christian Today.

Furthermore, to welcome the arrival of Xbox One release date, there will also be Midnight Madness events that will be held in participating Microsoft Stores, as well as Best Buy, Walmart and Gamestop.

Meanwhile, those who are ardently waiting for the Xbox One release date this Friday can already download the companion app for the next-generation game console called the Xbox One SmartGlass.

Prior to Xbox One release date, the companion app went live on the Windows Phone Store on Tuesday, as posted on International Business Times. The application is free but it is only available for Windows Phone users.

Meanwhile, the iOS and Android versions of Xbox One SmartGlass app will be released by Microsoft on iTunes and Google Play Store, respectively, soon.

The Xbox One version of SmartGlass is basically similar to the functionalities found on Xbox 360 SmartGlass. The app allows the users "to browse and navigate the new console's software interface without picking up a controller."

Moreover, the Xbox One app can also be used as a universal remote control so players can connect to other apps as they decide to download it on the their console. The SmartGlass app for Xbox One will also enable some players to use their mobile phone as keyboard and mouse, allowing them to access and manipulate the apps on their television.
