Eddie Murphy Explains Why There Was No `Coming to America’ Sequel, Lawsuits: `You stole my life from me! And I want my money! I'll kill you!'

Eddie Murphy told Aresnio Hall why they never reunited for a "Coming to America" sequel and it had nothing to do with Arse Hall's performance. Eddie Murphy was appearing on The Arsenio Hall Show on Tuesday night to talk about "Coming to America's" birthday.

One of Eddie Murphy's biggest hits, "Coming to America"  will turns 25 this year. A sequel was always anticipated since the 1988 megasmash comedy came out. Fans have wanted to see a reunion of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall besides (my personal favorite Eddie Murphy movie) "Harlem Nights."

In "Coming to America" Eddie Murphy played Akeem, an African prince who looks for his queen in Queens. Arsenio Hall played his friend and royal assistant Semmi. The pair actually played quite a few characters behind the magic of Jon Landis' makeup man.

Eddie Murphy told Arsenio that there probably won't ever be a "Coming to America" sequel, because "When Coming to America came out it was a bunch of lawsuits. There was some dude who was claiming he was the prince. I'd be out in the club and this African dude would roll up and say, 'I am the real prince! You stole my life from me! And I want my money! I'll kill you!' "

While "Coming to America" caught the two stars forever young, they haven't done too bad themselves. Murphy noticed "We still kind of look the same too. Most people, you cut to 25 years later, they'd be like, ooh lord. Sometimes they have to tell you who they are."
