Android 4.4 Kit Kat Release Date Finally Hits Nexus 4, Brings New Features, Apps And Improved Performance For The Previous Flagship

Yesterday, reports said that the Android 4.4 Kit Kat release date for the LG Nexus 4 has already taken effect, and the update has been rolling out to devices.

In a report by GSM Arena, the new build update is named KRT16S, which is an improvement to the previous KRT16O build. That's because Google and LG managed to make some changes and included additional bugfixes to prevent issues in supported smartphones.

According to the report the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update measures just 238MB, which is relatively low compared to other Jelly Bean updates released in other devices. This may be due to the fact that Google wants KitKat to run on as many Android phones as possible, even those with entry-level specs.

If you own a Nexus 4, you should already be receiving your update via OTA on your phone. But considering how many consumers own the device across the world, it would probably take a few days before all Nexus 4's get the Android 4..4 KitKat update.

Some of the changes included in the update are new apps such as Google Hangouts, new chat interface, caller ID features, and the new ART runtime which would reduce the start-time for applications, resulting in better battery life management.
