Why we love Yoo Hee Yul the “ Pervert”

No one would want to be called a pervert. But Yoo Hee Yul is different because he and his friends openly claim that he is, indeed, a pervert.

But this doesn't summarize his personality. Rather, it is the way he clothes himself in the image that gets the audience to inevitably love him.

Because of his image as a 'pervert', he is free to tease and embarrass celebrities in ways that other people cannot. The same applies to Shin Dong yeup, also known for his 'pervert' character, who managed to utilize this image to project his sense of humor in a variety of unique and appealing ways. This inimitable sense of humor has earned Shin a type of consistent popularity that few celebrities boast.

After Shin Dong yeup, Yoo Hee Yul has risen as the first out of a few to assume the character. He has managed to take on the 'pervert' persona without disgusting or appalling the audience through his show "Yoo Hee Yul's Sketchbook". This 'shield' has granted him the power to exchange rather dirty but comical remarks that most other celebrities do not dare utter. And the audience cannot help but love him.

But this 'shield' was not just something Yoo Hee Yul won by luck. It all started when he was caught staring at Han Seung Yun of Kara during his show. The audience somehow found his 'perverted gaze' comical and managed to get a good laugh out of it, which was what triggered his image as a 'pervert'.

Contrary to appearance, this is not just a spontaneous thing. Rather, it is a byproduct of the image that Yoo Hee Yul had spent years building. It was what led naturally to the creation of "Yoo Hee Yul the sentimental pervert."

The similarity between Yoo Hee Yul and Shin Dong Yup is that they know exactly when to pull this image. Their ability to take advantage of such moments is the reason why they have  been able to utilize this as a 'shield' without shocking or appalling the audience.
