"Immortal Song 2" needs to stop ruining old songs!

"Immortal Song" is receiving negative reviews due to over-remaking.

The purpose of the song is for the young singers to bring up old hit songs from the past but during the process, they are being accused of ruining the original song due to over remaking.

On the March 3rd episode, the singers were asked to sing a song by the composer Park Chun Suk, who is a legendary songwriter famous for songs written for Patty Kim, Na Hoon Ah, Lee Mija, Nam Jin and other famous singers. This was why the fans were extremely excited about the show but the singers were unfortunately not up to standard.

The performances themselves were flawless, especially with Ali who put up a perfect stage with Patty Kim's "Thorn Tree Bird." Kang Minkyung of Davichi sang "The Airport Farewell" by Moon Juran and Jay Park sang "The Empty Glass" by Nam Jin.

But due to their motivation to put on a perfect stage, the fans complained that much of the essence of the original songs were lost.

Re-making a song is a strenuous task. Changing just one element of the song can create a totally different ambiance, which often is at the sacrifice of the original ambiance much loved by all-time fans. This causes a lot of disappointment especially regarding songs that were extremely popular.

Many have asked that "They should stop ruining the songs".

Another viewer commented that "Remaking a song is good but too much of the original song is lost. The show, originally supposed to re-create old songs, is becoming more like just any other musical performance."
