Chile is Currently in a JYJ Craze

JYJ has shaken Chile up.

JYJ who is making new history in South America hosted a concert with over 3,000 fans in Santiago on March 10 as the first Korean singer to hold a solo concert in South America. Fans greeted the Korean reporters "An nyoung ha sae yo", donning red t-shirts. They waved placards and signs with the members' names and although it was on the opposite side of the earth, the craze in Chile was no less than that in Korea. JYJ has completed their World Tour journey performing in 15 countries that began last year by holding their world tour finale in Chile and Peru.

Concert fever is hotter than Korea

The hallyu wave brought by JYJ in Chile has been intense. Fans had booked the concert tickets weeks in advance. One person claimed that she'd come to the stadium every morning to keep her spot in the line. "The wait was not tiring but I actually felt energized because I felt like I was getting closer to JYJ." Another fan identified as Alison Salas (24), "I learned Korean because I wanted to talk to Koreans and JYJ in their native language. I'm not fluent but I can better understand JYJ songs now."

Hours before the concert, many fans that had not been able to get their tickets were scurrying around anxiously. Many cheered "Mi hijito Rico" for JYJ which means "my lovely boy". Some had even fainted due to the excitement.

At the start of the concert, the fans were screaming at the top of their lungs which was crazier than the shouts during the world cup. They were clapping and jumping up and down to see JYJ on stage. The concert began with "Empty" followed by "Pierrot" and "Ayyy Girl". The members' solo performances were equally mesmerizing with fans melting over Yoochun's sweet falsetto in the ballad "I Love You."

The hit song "I Found you" brought the concert to the climax followed by other songs such as "Be The One" and "Autumn Leaves". JYJ members were dazed to see foreign fans from such a distant country to love them. The 2 hour long concert was not enough for fans, as they burst into tears shouting 'encore' in the end.

South America in ‘K-Pop Craze’
JYJ has not yet released an official album in South America. But their songs travelled down through YouTube and their popularity has been on the rise ever since. A Chile fan claimed that "JYJ fans are currently exponentially increasing in Chile and although we are overseas, there's no problem in accessing their songs and learning about them due to the internet."

A fan who'd come all the way from Bolivia to hear them sing said "JYJ music gives me hope. My hobby is to learn their dances and it's a dream come true to see them perform.”

After Asia, U.S., and Europe, JYJ has moved to host a concert in South America. They have truly opened up a new era of K-Pop World Tour.
