Was Kim Na Yoon Really That Bad?

Despite her powerful and unique performance, Kim Na Yoon was eliminated from ‘K-Pop Star.’

During the last episode of ‘K-Pop Star’ Kim Na Yoon sang ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ by Adele.

After the negative reviews about her last performance, she had seemed to put much more effort behind her performance, appearing in a dashing red dress. On top of that, her vocal skills had stabilized compared to the time of her performance of ‘I'm Fine’ and her performance of Adele's song was full of emotion and power till the very end.

But the judges seemed to be a bit too critical.

Yang Hyun Suk critiqued ‘choosing Adele's song was the wrong start.’ Park Jin-Young and BoA were similarly negative, saying that the song did not suit her vocal color at all. The judges all awarded points in the 70s which also shocked the audience.

But was Kim Na Yoon that bad? Why were they so harsh on her? How were these judges able to accept the haphazard stage of a singer that can't sing, or that of a male contestant who plucked a few strings on the acoustic guitar while managing to sing a couple notes?

The so-called genius girl Kim Na Yoon was eliminated just like that. The dreams of a girl who'd flown all the way from the U.S. to pursue her talents have been halted.

Was Adele really too much for her? Does she have to be Michelle or Park Jimin to even attempt at singing Adele's song?
