In March there are two young stars that will battle it out on TV dramas. They are Lee Seung Gi and Park Yoochun both singers and actors.

Park Yoochun is to star in upcoming SBS ‘Rooftop Prince’ on Wednesday and Thursday, and upcoming MBC drama ‘The King 2Hearts’ Wednesday and Thursday starring Lee Seung Gi are debuting at the same on March 21.

The duel between two dramas has been a discussion sparking debates between Lee Seung Gi and Park Yoochun. Looking back on both stars they have the similarity that both started as a singer and moved onto acting.

Both stars are also similar in age as Park Yoochun and Lee Seung Gi were born 1986 and 1987 respectively. Also Park Yoochun debuted in 2003 as DBSK, while Lee Seung Gi debuted as a solo artist in 2004.

Although both debuted around the same time as singers their transformation as actors have some time difference. Lee Seung Gi made his debut in 2006 on KBS ‘The Infamous Chil Sisters’ while Park Yoochun first made his TV debut through ‘Sungkyunhwan Scandal’ 2010 followed by MBC ‘Miss Ripley.’

Lee Seung Gi went on to achieve ratings that exceeded 40% in 2009 SBS ‘Brilliant Legacy.’ Afterwards he starred in ‘My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox’ in 2010.

In the new drama Park Yoochun is star as the crown prince of the chosun dynasty who travels 300 years into the future to modern Seoul after he loses his beloved princess, it’s more of a fantasy-romantic comedy. It doesn’t seem that much different from the previous characters that he portrayed.

Both stars are also growing in other fields than acting. Lee Seung Gi not only became a top star simply by his excellent singing skills and by starring in dramas. He has been deeply remembered more as the youngest of ‘1 Night 2 Days’ and MC of SBS ‘Strong Heart.’

Park Yoochun of JYJ is juggling both positions as an actor and JYJ’s member. The group has been gaining huge popularity not only in Asia but spreading out to Europe and South America.

There are many idol stars in the music industry and starring in dramas however there aren’t many who have been able to achieve noticeable results as Lee Seung Gi and Park Yoochun. There are the ones leading mainstream trend it’s interesting to see how they continue on their path as singers and actors.
