Idols Appearance in Reality Program On The Rise, Why?

The new emerging idols are doubling their charm by appearing in reality programs at the same time as they make a comeback.

With the increasing number of idols it isn’t to show each of their own unique personality only through a limit of less than 3 minutes music performance. Therefore through an appearance in reality programs led by cable they are able to show their talent and charm.

The first group that was successful through reality program was 2NE1. The group showed the member’s distinctiveness by showing their private live through Mnet’s ‘2NE1TV Season 1’ in 2009. People shared that it was an enjoyable time to see each individual member to display their unique personality which build a stronger fan base. Since then many idol have begun to appeal their charm through reality TV.

Surely as a fan almost most of them are curious about the private life of the star. The wish of the fans that want to see the stars ‘real’ image instead of appearance on the air has brought in the boom of reality shows.

Idol group B.A.P made an appearance in SBS-MTV ‘Ta-Dah, It’s B.A.P’ at the same time as debut and appeared with an unusual concept as six alien beings from another planet to take over the world.

It was also broadcasted through local MTV channels in China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines which allowed them to fascinate both domestic and foreign fans.

Continuing on Boyfriend decided to make an appearance on ‘W Academy’ which is a global project that wants to produce the next Hallyu star and promote Kpop, the group will undergo various training sessions.

On the show Boyfriend revealed the boys’ dorms and tested their physical strength as well as foreign language skills which drew a large response from fans.

B.A.P and Boyfriend both by showing their private life provided various events and turned it into an opportunity to build a stronger global fan base.

Rookie group NU’EST will be the stars in a new reality program ‘Making Of Star NU’EST: Landing Operation,’ on MBC Music who belongs to the same agency as After School from March 21.

Through the program ‘Marking Of Star NU’EST: Landing Operation’ the boys will visit various countries to capture the hearts of fans, while carrying out various missions along with fans. This is to have a close communication directly with fans and appeal their charm.

A music industry representative commented on rise of reality program, “There are difficulties to appeal to fans among many other idols only through music. Through reality TV they are appeasing the fans who wish to see the fans and display their charm. In reality the reality programs and SNS is an effective combination to raise awareness.
